High Peak MP Ruth George has welcomed moves by Ark Housing to address concerns raised by local residents.
Ruth said: “Since meeting residents at my coffee morning last month, I have held meetings with Ark representatives and with High Peak Borough Council’s housing team.
“Ark provides housing for people from High Peak with severe mental health conditions and with addiction, who need considerable support but I understand residents’ concerns regarding anti-social behaviour which they shouldn’t have to endure.
“I have asked Ark to look into providing more support for their tenants outside normal office hours, which are the times that most problems occur, and to make it clear in their license agreements that disturbance to neighbours is prohibited and that continued behaviour will result in eviction.
“In spite of that, I’m pleased to hear that Ark has taken action and evicted several people recently due to their anti-social behaviour and I hope this will mean improvements both for neighbours and other Ark residents.
“I’m pleased that Ark has provided a phone number to call whenever neighbours have concerns and I’d encourage residents to call at the time it’s happening and to leave a recorded message which can be used as evidence.
“I have been assured that appropriate action will be taken when behaviour is not acceptable.
“I continue to work closely with Cllr Rachael Quinn, the new Labour borough council, local police, Ark Housing and other agencies to resolve the concerns raised by neighbours and to make sure that Ark’s residents have the support they need.”
