Library petition – join the campaign against cuts to Derbyshire libraries

Conservative-run Derbyshire County Council is proposing to hand over 20 of our 45 libraries to communities to run on a rapidly-reducing grant, with nothing after 4 years, putting them at grave danger of closure.  And almost every library in Derbyshire will see their opening hours cut.

Our libraries are vitally important to local communities – not only for books, but for computer access for people who can’t afford it.  Please help by signing the petition to ensure the Council have to debate their proposal fully:

 The libraries proposed to be handed over are:  Borrowash, Etwall, Clowne, Duffield, Creswell, Brimington, Whaley Bridge, Killamarsh, Melbourne, Hadfield, Holmewood, Gamesley, Whitwell, Wingerworth, Pinxton, Hayfield, Tideswell, Old Whittington, Somercotes and Woodville.
